A board-certified dermatologic surgeon and
fellowship-trained Mohs surgeon, Dr. Callahan specializes in aesthetic and medical dermatology, and skin cancer treatment to help her patients look as good as they feel.
There are numerous facial injectable products available that can be used to restore facial volume and fill out wrinkled or uneven areas of the face. SkinSmart Dermatology® offers the latest fillers available. For the safety of her patients, Dr. Elizabeth Callahan uses only FDA-approved products, including JUVÉDERM®, RADIESSE®, BELOTERO BALANCE® and Restylane® for her Sarasota patients. These fillers have demonstrated predictable results, as well as minimal bruising, swelling and redness after treatment. SkinSmart Dermatology also offers Sculptra® Aesthetic, a safe, synthetic and biocompatible material that is injected below the surface of the skin in the area of fat loss.

Injectable fillers are affordable, non-invasive alternatives to cosmetic surgery and offer an immediate difference in your appearance. A specialist in injectable treatments, Dr. Callahan is considered the top injector on the West Coast of Florida. At SkinSmart Dermatology, we use injectable fillers to provide a variety of improvements including:
- Smoothing wrinkles, lines and folds
- Shaping facial contours such as the cheeks and jawline
- Restoring volume and fullness to the skin
- Sculpting thin lips and filling in lip lines
The appropriate facial filler is unique to each patient and depends on the location and depth of the area to be filled. During a cosmetic consultation, we recommend the dermal filler or fillers that can help our patients achieve their aesthetic goals. We may suggest BOTOX® Cosmetic or Dysport® treatments instead of, or in addition to, fillers.
Our Injectable Fillers
Results from filler treatments are natural-looking and provide immediate gratification. Fillers below are composed of naturally occurring substances and produce impressive results.
Restylane®, Perlane®, JUVÉDERM® and BELOTERO BALANCE® are composed of hyaluronic acid, a natural substance found throughout the body. While each HA filler has its own unique properties, most work by replacing lost volume and stimulating collagen production in the skin. Many improve the moisture content of the skin as well.
RADIESSE® Volumizing Filler contains calcium-based microspheres that upon injection immediately provide the volume and lift needed to diminish signs of aging. This filler acts as a scaffold under the skin, providing structure and stimulating your own natural collagen to grow. This process continues for several months, which extends the initial effect of the filler.
Sculptra® Aesthetic is another type of injectable filler that replaces facial volume gradually by stimulating collagen production. This filler is made from a synthetic material called poly-L-lactic acid, which is gradually and naturally absorbed by the body as it works to stimulate the growth of new collagen. Although you will see some visible improvements in the first few weeks following treatment, Sculptra provides gradual results that build over the course of several treatments. Final results typically last for over two years.
A board-certified dermatologic surgeon and
Dr. Callahan personally performs all injectable treatments. Her advanced fellowship training in dermatologic surgery, extensive education and knowledge of facial musculature ensure the best possible results. Using a fine needle or thin cannula, the filler is injected directly into the area being treated. Most of our fillers provide instant results after a single treatment. Sculptra Aesthetic takes an average of three treatment sessions spaced six weeks apart.
Recovery & Results
One of the greatest rewards of our dermal filler treatments is that results are immediate. You can visit us for a quick office treatment and resume your everyday activities looking more refreshed, with little to no downtime.
Sculptra treatments require some patience. Although you will see some visible improvements in the first few weeks, Sculptra gives you gradual results that build over the course of several treatments. Once your final results are achieved, they should last for over two years.
