Broken Capillaries, Port Wine Stains, and Red Spots

Q: How does the VBeam™ work?

A: When pointed at a broken capillary or other red lesion, the laser fires light that is selectively absorbed by the red color of blood. When this occurs, the blood is selectively heated. This heating action also heats the blood vessel wall, narrowing its diameter and reducing redness. As a result, the lesion becomes much less noticeable, and in many cases, resolves completely.

Q: How many treatments will I need?

A: Generally, two or three treatments with the laser are necessary to obtain optimal results.

Q: Does it hurt?

A: VBeam™ laser treatments are gentle enough that usually no numbing is required.

Q: Is there any downtime?  What happens after treatment?

A: VBeam™ treatments will only require ‘social downtime.’  Patients experience   redness and bruising with more intense treatments which can last for several days up to several weeks after treatment.  You can wear makeup to conceal the treated areas.
